In the Viciebsk Art Museum opened the exhibition "Imperial Family. Path of Love "dedicated the last tsar of the Russian Empire. The exposition of photographs and documentary materials, according to the organizers, is to tell about the holy royal martyrs and martyrs – Tsar Nicholas II Alexandrovich and his family.
The exhibition was created with the blessing of His Grace Bishop Sophronius, Bishop of Mahiloŭ and Mścisłaŭ, several anniversaries – namely, the 100th anniversary of the organization in Mahiloŭ Supreme Commander of Russian troops and the 100th anniversary of the execution of the royal family. Having been in many cities of Russia and Belarus, the exhibition first came to Viciebsk, but already there waiting for her a year ago.
The stands are more than hundreds of photos and copies of paintings by famous artists, which are accompanied by the documents, records from the diaries and memoirs of contemporaries. The exhibition was prepared by using the materials of the State archive of the Russian Federation, as well as private collections of the inhabitants of Mahiloŭ, St. Petersburg, Moscow, Yekaterinburg, and Zlatoust.
Opening of the exhibition was attended by representatives of Viciebsk clergy and students of the Viciebsk Seminary. Prior to the start of its visitors with a welcoming speech addressed the Viciebsk diocese Archpriest Alexander Sirotkin, organizer and curator of the exhibition Ilya Sidorovich, and Dean of the Faculty of Slavic Philology, candidate of philological sciences, associate professor of the Mahiloŭ State University Sergey Somov.
One of the stands dedicated to the stay of the royal family in Viciebsk. History shows that the October 30, 1915, Nicholas II made a stop in Viciebsk to conduct review of the 78th Infantry Division.
The details of the visit can be found in the memoirs of Alexander Spiridovich – chief of palace security agents: "Under pouring rain Sovereign rounds regiment after regiment and thanked him for his deeds. On the return journey the train stopped at the Sovereign Council. It was crowded with people. Wall of people stood in the streets, despite the hideous weather. The enthusiasm was great."
In December 1914 the Russian emperor also passed through the city on the Dvina, and in February 1916, he walked on the Viciebsk and Vorša on a sunny day, as a note in his diary.
May 8, 1915 is already the Empress Alexandra Feodorovna stopped for a couple of hours in Viciebsk together with their children. They visited St. Nicholas Cathedral, and then visited the 4 hospital, had breakfast with the governor, visited one of the stores in his palace. "The city is very beautiful from the bridge," – left the Empress in his diary.
According to the organizers of the exhibition, its main purpose is to strive to demonstrate spirituality and sanctity of the family of Nicholas II and their example to show a sample of high love, purity, relationships, a sample of Christian family life and proper upbringing of children.
"Our troubled times in many respects similar to the time when she was the last royal family. Today, the forces of evil once again launched an attack on those who want to live according to the commandments of Christ, chaste and traditions of their ancestors. Let the example of the saints crowned martyrs, their piety and martyrdom, is a light guide on the way to the kingdom of heaven. We wish all visitors of gaining wisdom, spiritual strength and rich mercy of our Lord Jesus Christ, God!" – Argue and share the wishes of the exhibition organizers.
