June 12 Board of Vitebsk Regional Court considered in camera the appeal sentenced to six and a half years in prison the head of the unregistered party "Belaya Rus" Sergei Ryzhov, upheld the trial court's decision.
Sergey Ryzhov must sit out of his sentence of imprisonment in a penal colony under strict regime. The verdict against the policy was announced on April 3. He was convicted under Article 167 (sexual assault) and Article 339 (hooliganism) of the Criminal Code of the Republic of Belarus.
The details of the hearing of the appeal by Sergey Ryzhov said his spokesman doctor Igor Postnov: "Defender of the convicted person, emphasis was placed on the fact that the photographs submitted no definition. A foreign body shape and type of hairstyle photographed person does not comply with figure and hair Ryzhov. In addition, there is no factual evidence of activities in which the former presidential candidate accused. But that's not the case, and that the court did not originally aimed to understand the essence."
"In view of the deteriorating economic situation in the country and the impoverishment of the population of the case of Sergei Ryzhov Lukashenko may have to the same effect, any case of journalist Gongadze in Ukraine acquired for former President Leonid Kuchma's neighboring state", – he expressed his opinion Igor Postnov.
No Sergey Ryzhov, nor his companions court decision, of course, did not agree. The next step will be their appeal to the prosecutor's office and the Supreme Court of the country, and perhaps in the KGB, where they are going with the complaints and send photos that have become almost the main argument of the prosecution. Friends convict learned that in Pskov you can make a special examination of the photos, but the procedure is a lot of money.
