Chairman of the Mazalava village council Leonid Dubina invited activists created the public initiative "Chajsy" place to visit on May 13 alleged mass executions of citizens of the Stalinist repression. Earlier, activists filed a collective statement with the signatures of 88 people in the village council, and according to the law, before responding to such a statement, officials are required to visit the area and meet with the applicants.
In a statement, the activists of the village council asked for help in the improvement of the area around excavations found human remains, as well as assist in clarifying the circumstances of the mass killings.
Examine the crime scene and meet with the public came chairman of the Mazalava village council, the deputy secretary of the village council forester and Catherine Koroleva. Fourth presence is not introduced. Public activists showed pits and excavations revealed parts of human skeletons and fragments of women's and men's shoes. One of the soles was very small, and present expressed the view that the shoes once belonged to a child. It was unanimously agreed that the discovered material evidence indicate that the burial can’t be attributed to the military. Warning of the authorities was aimed at the remains that were removed from the ground in the spring. Who committed these acts and why – is unknown.
At the request of another Jan Dzyarzhautsau help with landscaping it has been said that this will be only after the conclusion will be obtained of the Investigative Committee, when it finally find out who is buried there.
Jan Dzyarzhautsau says, "What's the difference who is buried there: the repressed in the mid 1930s, and killed by the Nazis? You do whatever you need to do an honest and decent citizens in such cases. This is not a cattle cemetery, around the scattered human remains it. I told him that the other one does not apply to: give you permission to make the road and cut down the bush to set the cross to hold a prayer service, and when they come to the remains of a forensic tell us to bury them with our participation in the place where they taken. What he said he could not agree to our request, because he had no money. It seems that the authorities continue to hide an awl in a sack. Visible even undisguised interest of the authorities to pull all the brakes. The case of Lenin and Stalin is alive and well, that's why in the parade in Minsk Interior Minister put the form Commissioner of the NKVD".
Chairman of the village council reported that he went to the military enlistment office with a request that a mass grave soldiers carried out the necessary action in such cases. Special search battalion must start work within a month.
But as they say, God works in mysterious ways. Returning home, community activists met in Luzhesno local Orthodox priest Father Michael, who has kindly agreed to visit not only the forest but also served a memorial service at the burial site.
By the way, on the initiative of Father Michael in Warm woods, near Luzhesno in memory of "victims of hard times", as he put it, it is already set cross. According to Jan Dzyarzhautsau local old-timers told him that in Warm woods at the very beginning of the 30s Vitebsk NKVD shot repressed citizens. It turns out that during hard times – it is likely, that this tragic period, not the war. So, in the person of the Church, Mr. Yang has found a kindred spirit, if not, then the person who understands the time and his duties to the dead without guilt.
Together with the priest visited the Vitebsk forest Cossack Ataman Valeriy Semashko with his son Igor, who were invited to Father Michael. Cossacks offered the woods to set the cross, which would be a notable landmark of the way for those who will have the intention to visit this place.
In cases when the government is in no hurry to help people, we have to hope for help like-minded people and to rally around the ideas that unite, not to repeat the tragic events of the past.
