November 30, 2011 Supreme Court of Belarus Vladislav Kovalev found guilty of complicity in terrorism and sentenced him to death. December 7 convict filed a petition for clemency to Alexander Lukashenko.

March 14, 2012 it became known that Lukashenko refused to pardon Dmitri Konovalov and Vladislav Kovalev. For three days before March 11, the mother and sister Kovalev got a three-hour interview with him in the KGB jail. On the same day, said Lyubov Kovaleva, her son and shot.

The events of four years ago, says Lyubov Kovaleva.

– At the trial, your son is not admitted his guilt, he refused to testify, under the pressure data. What silence your son?

– Vlad was not silent, he said enough. However, much was said then in a mild form, because every time after the court session, he found himself in prison, where waiting and pressure, and various kinds of punishment. When Vlad has not confirmed the confrontation with Dima, the court postponed until Monday, and on Monday Vlad brought to court in a terrible way: he was hungry, thirsty, sleep, he had a tired face – he did not forgive such statements. Nobody expected, that Vlad will speak.

– They were waiting for your son implicitly admits guilt and be silent?

– They thought that Vlad would do the same thing and Dima – silent. But Vlad did not remain silent. I think that its role in this was played by the fact that I was referring to, and Vlad was a lawyer – not provided by the authorities, and our lawyer. In this regard, Vlad easier.

Dima was in complete ignorance: he did not know what was going on with my family. Moreover, his brother and father were arrested and have stayed a long time in jail. When parents Dima brought into the courtroom under escort, he once again reminded: be silent, or punish, and the whole family.

– As a testimony, and behavior of your son affected the whole trial?

– The son broke all faith in the justice system has shown that there is no independent judiciary. Any person can get to sign a confession to a crime he did not commit.

– Last time you met with Vlad in the KGB jail March 11, 2012, human rights activists believe that your son was executed in the period from 12 to 15 March. When you feel that something is wrong with your son?

– After the last meeting I analyzed the behavior of the authorities, as we tried in vain to find Vlad. I guess that Vlad was executed after our meeting – March 11 but not the 15th. And Vlad's behavior, and the behavior of prison staff – all spoke about our last meeting.

– Now, four years after your tragedy, if you change your mind about the hasty executions? Why death sentence was executed, not even waiting for a response from the UN Human Rights Committee?

– Dima and Vlad have witnessed a crime, which made power. The attack carried out special services – a different opinion does not already exist, and Dima and Vlad have witnessed the crime. The only witnesses – they are in any case would be removed. The course of the investigation, extracting confessions bullying – all talking about it. With a favorable outcome of the case, sooner or later they would have told the truth, so the government could not keep them alive.

– Were you able to lift the veil of secrecy over the events of four years ago? You persistently sought the truth...

– Nothing is achieved – under the current regime, we will not achieve the truth. Always walked unsubscribe, and unreasoned. When this power is unlikely that we will achieve.

– Even so, and I did not know that the son is buried?

– We know nothing, absolutely nothing, (crying).

– Lyubov Ivanovna, how this tragedy has affected your personal destiny, to your family?

– Life is divided into two parts: before and after the explosion the explosion. And here the pain even more, because his son was accused of a crime he did not commit.

Perhaps the attack itself and feeding its official media were a shock for the people right at the beginning: people simply do not have any information. When reached to the people information, I do not feel any negativity to yourself. I work in a big team: then and now I feel and support, and a good attitude to the family.

I do not feel pressure from the people.

Reference. The explosion at the Minsk "Oktyabrskaya" metro station rocked April 11 at 17:50. He killed 15 people, more than 200 were hospitalized. Dmitry Konovalov and Vladislav Kovalev was detained a day after the blast, and their trial began on 15 September. Figurant also imputed the explosions in Minsk in 2008 and Viciebsk in 2005.

Human rights activists and international organizations, including the European Union, Council of Europe Parliamentary Assembly and the OSCE, called on Lukashenko to reconsider its decision to deny clemency Kovalev and Konovalov: the trial has left too many questions.
