Several members of the movement "For Freedom" and the Belarusian Popular Front party went on to Vitebsk with yellow and blue Ukrainian flag. Their journey began from the monument to Prince Algirdas and ended at the cross Euphrosyne Dvina on the coast near the Assumption Cathedral.
"On the way, no one will touch him, but after a while we noticed that we were accompanied by a strange man in civilian clothes and with a video camera. However, he did not approach us, does not interfere with light candles, lay flowers to the cross and to pray for peace in Ukraine and those who died for the independence of the fraternal Ukrainian people. As we walked down the street Suvorov, we were asked passers-by. But without any aggression - just ask why we go with the Ukrainian flag. Explained that on August 24 celebrates Independence Day of Ukraine, and that we stand in solidarity with those who defend it freedom and independence," - said the coordinator of the Vitebsk movement "For Freedom" Christopher Zhelyapau.
That all people were detained, can not be a guarantee that the policemen will not claim the activists, said a member of the BPF party Illinets Alexander: "I photographed laying flowers and friends with the flag. And some stranger began to resent what I shoot that something is not right. Was it a casual passer-by, or a provocateur - I do not know. But on the way home - and I was riding a bike - I caught up with car traffic police, policeman got out and asked to produce documents and rewrote all of my personal information."
