Połacak a year there is a human rights organization founded by local jurists. Human rights activists have formed the union in the form of a simple partnership by signing an agreement of joint activities to provide citizens with free legal assistance.
During six months of weekly jurists were welcome. Legal consultations were held in the office of the Free Trade Union of "Fiberglass" plant, which is a co-founder of "Połacak human rights associations."
Jurist Yuri Belsky, one of the founders of Połacak association of human rights defenders:
– In 2016, a human rights organization in Połacak was opened with the statement on the account in tax inspection of Połacak. The purpose of this organization is to provide legal assistance to the population of the town of Połacak and Połacak district.
During the reception to obtain legal advice to the human rights defenders have come three or four visitors.
Says Vladimir (who did not want to his surname sounded), one of the people who received legal aid from the human rights organization:
– I learned that here provide legal assistance from friends, and after the information found on the Internet. This is a huge help, confirmed my conviction that there is an objective consideration of my problem. I already addressed to law firms, but I got the impression that they have some sort of arrangement with the courts. Their jurists are afraid to take responsibility.
Among the founders of the human rights organization of Połacak jurist Nikolai Sharah:
– Partnership – is not the best form of the work of human rights organizations to help the citizens, but the real for the modern Belarus, using which you can assist citizens in defending their rights. A year of work our organization has shown that legal support demand in society. Quite a lot of people who do not know where to turn, how to influence the public authorities. Either people do not have money to go to legal advice and to get qualified legal assistance. So they come to us.
There are many occasions when we release the courts from the extra work, solve the problem of citizens in the pretrial order. I think that such advocacy should not be carried out at our expense, and the state should support and fund such activities to disseminate legal information to assist low-income citizens who do not have access to a paid legal office.
One of the founders of the human rights organization is the primary cell of the Free Trade Union of Belarus, through which we can use the law on trade unions to help the citizens of the Labour, free to represent their interests in court. Many people are turning to us to have expressed a desire to join the Free Trade Union.
The founders of the human rights associations were the three jurists who have completed additional courses on the implementation of international human rights standards. In order to provide free legal aid to our organization and attract other jurists – it is not prohibited by law and our agreement, because it is not a commercial activity. It is, rather, social work, therefore, to provide legal assistance and other jurists.
Activities of the human rights organization continued. Phone numbers of our jurists have remained in people. Those in need of assistance call, a lot of consultations conducted over the phone.
