September 22 in court of October district of Viciebsk judge Vladimir Tsarik versed in the circumstances of an administrative offense, which saw police department employees in the joint performance of the three of candidates from the "right-wing coalition" anthem "Mighty God". Anthem sung during the election campaign at the picket for collecting signatures.
Tatiana Sevyarynets, George Stankevich and Elena Shabunya charged with violation of part 1 of Article 23.34 of the Administrative Code (violation of the order of holding mass events).
Given the fact that the hearings were held in the two official languages, in order to prevent misunderstandings of language was previously summoned to the judge explaining obscure words for him as much as a translator assistant professor of Belarusian linguistics PhD Elena Dyadova, from time to time.
Nor Tatsyana Sevyarynets, nor George Stankevich nor Elena Shabunya his guilt did not recognize and did not agree with the charges set out in the protocols (all three charged group public expression of socio-political views).
First an explanation gave Tatsyana Sevyarynets. She said that on July 27 candidates from the "right-wing coalition" under the current legislation to hold joint picket to collect signatures on Lenin Street near the shopping center "Marco City." To attract attention to the event organizers have the right to use any means not prohibited by law: chants, songs, dances, banging a tambourine. For this purpose, and we decided to sing "God Almighty".
However, the rally was held just below the huge screen, which constantly displays advertisements, and the sound of which would be drowned out by chants. For this reason it was decided to go through the underpass to the other side of the street and sing in the right conditions in place, which is not prohibited for picketing. However, it so happened that the people in the place, except the unknown operator was not there. So we decided to sing a couple of songs to take them on video and upload to social networks to encourage representatives of the Viciebsk online community to support the candidates. So they did, and then the three of us returned to its former place and continued to collect signatures.
The fact that they had opened an administrative case, it was for the candidates as a complete surprise. Moreover, that by the district election commissions no questions to the participants of the picket held on July 27 with two Belarusian-language song was not.
Elena Shabunya and George Stankevich joined the explanations given by Tatiana Sevyarynets, adding to complete the picture a few strokes. In particular, Ms. Elena drew attention to the fact that the protocol provides false testimony. After all, she did not sing and "Long live Belarus!" Cried not, and responded to the cry: "Long live the gods h!". Insult counted Elena Shabunya and a copy of the protocol that was sent to her from the October police department, the text of which it was unable to read. She has the impression that such lines could write only "a drunk or drug stoned chicken".
George Stankevich not only disagreed with the allegations set out in the report, but found it contrary to common sense, for what may be a "public expression of views" in the absence of the public? And on the question of the judge about what they have in common, he said: "We – the patriots of Belarus and fighting for its people to live better."
After listening to all three candidates, who are being administrative proceedings, the court decided to postpone the trial until 26 September. To find out all the circumstances set out in the protocols by police, the judge considered it necessary to invite them to the next session of the court for questioning.
Also Elena Shabunya offered to summon for questioning and police colonel Igor Skarinovich, which drew up a report on the candidates and on the initiative which started the whole thing.
