A Viciebsk resident Olga Tovpenets are actively looking for work. A seamstress by training, she saw on the timber company "DeliOst" need people. It took an apprentice wood finisher, and soon put on the machine with four saws. Because of this ill-fated machine she lost her hand.
To get a 34-year-old Viciebsk resident came company on 17 December.
– I'm on the same day told to go change clothes and go out to work, – said Olga. – Initially offered the position of the pupil sorter materials and wood products. Salaries small – 1.7 million on hand. But then promised to pay more. In general, my task was to sort the sticks. Well, you know, good, bad, bark, bark. Then he looked at what I was thinking, nimble, not sluggish, and told to stand over the machine for splicing timber.
Work on a dangerous and complex machine and Olga almost nobody taught. There was and is necessary in such cases, instruction on safety. As an instructor on the first day addressed the future Olga’s partner, who has worked at the plant itself is only six months.
– A couple of hours stood beside her, looked, what buttons to push and what to do. And everything – drinking timber. And there – 14 or 16 teeth, 4 saws and rotational speed – 4000 RPM ... Neither of which the safety briefing and the speech was not, – says Olga.
"Training" work on the machine went on the first day to find Olga "DeliOst". And on the second day of work at the enterprise it is in full sawn pine and glue. In this case, as the victim, she was not even formalized.
– It is only now I realize that was supposed to be training, briefings on safety and so on, – Viciebsk resident says. – I was recording "packer student" in the workbook we should not have even been there at bay. Yes, even without the "scabs" machine operator or some courses. But then I really needed a job, and that's gone. So unofficially worked until 11 January, while I have not issued.
With regard to health and safety conditions at the "DeliOst" especially nobody resented – they were all afraid of losing their jobs. Though a small but stable earnings.
The accident occurred on 12 March, when Olga was standing behind the machine for splicing timber. According to her, a few weeks before the incident on the machine sharpened teeth and removed the protective barrier, a mill closes. Protection on the ground and did not put. At some point in the hand of Olga literally sucked into the air funnel ...
– Master walked past – swore obscenities and went to call "ambulance." And do not even specified that his hand blown off, so "fast" riding as much as 25 minutes ... – Olga says.
– It happened instantly. I'm in shock, even pain is not felt, and consciousness is not lost, even though the guys to see it all fall into a swoon, and one girl. Brush my grind literally around the shop. Doctors later tried to find something – one beef ... – Olga remembers that tragic day.
The next day, the hospital was visited by the master, a lawyer and head of production enterprises.
– You know what they told me? Do not believe it! They asked why I, Sorter, voluntarily climbed on the machine .. I tell them: you do me on the second day to put yourself! And I worked there for three months on your mind ...
Management of the company flatly refused to comment on the incident. As the Secretary said the journalists' questions, is currently undergoing testing by the Department of Labour of the State Inspectorate, and when there will be opinion of the committee, the employee finds out first.
According to Olga, now with the enterprise also dismissed her workmate – for fear of mayhem. And to the unfortunate machine on which they worked, no one even approaches on March 12th. But now, based on a story co-worker, it is, and a baffle plate and warning labels in Russian (where she worked, she saw on the machine only Korean characters).
Olga feared that the safety logs at the company will issue an afterthought. And workers will paint – because everyone is afraid of losing their jobs. In this case to prove anything will be difficult ...
In a statement in the name of the company "DeliOst" director Olga Tovpenets indicates a violation of several articles of the Labour Code.
It requires to carry out accident investigation, compensation of physical and moral damages, as well as pay for rehabilitation treatment in Germany and the installation of the prosthesis. By the way, the cost of mechanical-electronic prosthesis reaches 50 000 euros – roughly the same cost machine that led to the injury.
