During the reign of the current head of state, many of the Belarusian citizens have forgotten about this holiday as the Day of Freedom. But every year there are people who not only remember the date of proclamation of the Belarusian People's Republic in 1918, but also remind us of the festival March 25 others.
So it was in Viciebsk this year.
Creative from BCD
At a time when the city authorities do not give permission for public opposition activities, public and party activists are looking for alternative ways to express their civil position.
Activists of the organizing committee of the BCD Tatiana Sevyarynets and Elena Shabunya reacted to celebrate the creative: they gave their congratulations on the Day of Will Chairman of the Viciebsk city executive committee and city council.
Clearly shocked surprise helpers above mentioned officials, when they were approached by activists, the latter promised to convey their congratulations expressed by their superiors and congratulated the members of the organizing committee of the BCD in response.
Flowers to the monuments, ardor of youth and police in civilian clothes
A few hours after the campaign supporters of Christian Democracy to the authorities of social activists and representatives of various opposition organizations, including members of the BPF Party, the CCP BPF, the campaign "Tell the Truth", began to gather near the monument to Prince Olgerd.
People gathered little – only about a dozen people. Perhaps a small number of participants of the event because it was the middle of the day.
Among those who came to celebrate the holiday, were not only participants of the everlasting opposition activities, but also new young faces. This beginners – young people have some variety in the usual course of the celebration of the Freedom Day by Viciebsk residents.
So, the girl from the "Tell the Truth" brought a national white-red-white flag. And yet people are just going to, without fear, opened it – in the center of Viciebsk! – And then I hung the top of his clothes on and walked with him through the city on their shoulders all the time what was going celebration. Once this behavior she quickly had brought to the police patrol, arrest, trial and fine or arrest. But this time everything worked out.
However, law enforcement officers have left the celebration of the feast "oppami" without his attention. They watched what was going on throughout the event. But kept their distance from the participants and do not let them celebrate. The number of police officers who accompanied the social and political activist, was almost equal to the number of these very activists.
The activists laid a bouquet of white i red flowers at the monument to Prince Olgerd. And then moved along the route: Assumption Hill, where there is a cross and a plaque in the perpetuation of the "orthodox, in the years of turmoil and hard times painfully tortured and innocent victims" – the building in which he studied Vasil Bykov, a high relief in his honor – a monument to the writer Vladimir Karatkevich. And everywhere, laid flowers.
It was not always easy to do. Plate in honor of Vasil Bykov is located at a height of three meters. But the skill of youth saved: young people, helping each other, they went to the very sign and put the flowers in the proper place.
The youth showed resourcefulness and when people turned out at the monument Karatkevich. Not only were lit candles and laid flowers to the monument, but also – with the supply of young people – was tied to a tree that grows beside a white-red-and-white composition of the balls. It was very nice...

As a permanent ever-clockwise, known Vitsebsk oppositionist Barys Khamaida stood on the island to recapture their freedom at the "Blue House". On this day, he launched brand-new white-red-white umbrella and a poster-embroidery. Many friends came to him and congratulated on the occasion. Some did so freely, openly, emotionally, and some gently shook his hand and gone away. They came up to him and Tatsyana Sevyarynets and Elena Shabunya. Together they read a prayer for Belarus.
On this day, Boris Hononovich received from independent Vitsebsk journalist gift – a photo taken at the same place where he is now, twenty years ago. It's most famous Protestant captured Viciebsk with a poster "Belarus! Independence! Spring!". In the hands of an opposition activist holds a newspaper "Choice", the editor of which he was then working. As explained by Mr Boris, on the day when the photo was taken, he was detained by police and received the poster considerable fine.
