Community activists of the city began collection of signatures for the establishment of a memorial plaque in honor of the famous in Hlybokaje district agronomist Boleslaw Lapyr. Thanks to him, famous Hlybokaje yields of cherries, namely he led different resistant varieties of berries and brought them from abroad.

According to a local activist Zmicier Lupach, now in the Hlybokaje District Cherry Festival is held in honor of the cherry blossoms even put her monument. But the person who contributed to this, is invisible.

"This man deserves to be immortalized. His merit is not only that he was a good agriculturist, but he was a great patriot of Belarus, fought for the Belarusian language in the former Polish-Lithuanian Commonwealth", – Zmitser Lupach said.

At the end of World War II Boleslav Lapyr came to the prison in city Vaukavysk. And one day he did not came back from interrogation, disappeared forever in the corridors of the NKVD. He was accused of collaboration with the Germans to work in the administration. He has not been convicted and therefore was not rehabilitated.
