The other day we visited Vitebsk shelter for homeless animals. We saw a big and clean territory, employees who are walking their dogs, and dogs themselves in large enclosures. Each of the dogs looked clean and well maintained, but all in the eyes of sadness was read. They need hosts. Head shelter Zubova Natalia met us and ushered.

Inside the shelter are cats and puppies, each of them has a name, and each has been vaccinated, neutered and willing to contact. Natalia agreed to give an interview and tell how things are at the shelter. – I would like to ask you, how often do you get to the animals?

 – Frequently. Almost 24 hours a day.

– Bring the people themselves?

 – We have no right to take animals from the people themselves. The shelter was built just under the catch. Those dogs which have some application, which leaves trapping – those dogs and cats we receive. Of course, there are exceptions to every rule, but you should understand that the shelter is designed for a maximum of 200 seats, and each day we receive up to 10 animals.

We do not accept animals from the owners for good reason: let the cat lives with you 5 years, you have a baby – it bothered you. Then it would be logical to take a picture, place "Vkontakte" or somewhere else on the Internet, and attach your cat. And here a shelter for homeless animals ?

If you take a cat who has outlived five years in the apartment, put in a cage, and – you know what happens to domestic cats, which throw up here ? They stress occurs: 3 days they refuse to eat, on the fourth day we give them glucose drip, even after 3 days take out forward paws. Dog gets used to humans, dogs can adapt. Cat who lived 5 years in the family, he gets used to the place, and he can not live in a shelter. We have cats at 40 locations, ie at the same time at the shelter may be 40 cats. We took the cat sterilized, released. How many kittens are not born ? Cat 4 times a year in labor.

– To you only dogs and cats do this?

– How often do you come to the animals in a terrible state?

– And for them are the hosts?

– Do you have many volunteers?

– A lot. Here, thank Veterinary Academy, we had 4 groups. Come, firewood pricked, the territory was removed curbs painted. Without them, we certainly can not cope. I have 7 people on shift. Where for so many animals and cook and cook and wash, and the building is also needed to keep clean. And the grounds clean. And we flowers, the planted beds. And the animals need care 24 hours a day – they do not care that the change over.

– Are there times when you are euthanized animals, and under what circumstances?

 – Of course, there are such moments. Bring a dog hit by a car. We do not have a X-ray machine – we are taking a veterinary academy. We were there to help make the x-ray – a spinal fracture. Bottom line?

– How often do people help the shelter?

Natalia told the story of one of the orphanage children – Seeds, which is very hit us, and we decided to tell it apart. Another small seeds planted on the rope and forgot about it. Dog grew, and the rope all grow stronger in his neck. The seeds were brought by car mother and daughter. How they managed to safely carry your dog – no one knew the pain and discomfort Simon did not want to be given in the arm and pulled out. During surgery, the doctors ran out of operating from the oppressive odor festered wounds. Seeds released from the terrible burden of his socializing. Simon became playful, very contact, also he is a good guard. When we photographed the seeds, all the time he wanted to play, jump and did not sit still – he finally enjoying life without pain. But on his neck forever remain a terrible scar of his past. Simon wants to trust people and is in need of a good and caring host.

Such stories shelter keeps a huge set. There everyone needs attention and care: does not matter whether it is an adult dog or cat, if they have any external defects – the main thing is that they are not without a sense of love. All they want to give the person another chance to have a family and stay in someone's heart, as a full member of the family.
