"Preserving the memory of the soldiers-internationalists, events, the war in Afghanistan - one of the main tasks of the public association - said Valery Mackiewicz. - Set memorials - is a tribute to the soldiers who died. " According to him, for the 25th anniversary of the withdrawal of Soviet troops from Afghanistan in every district of the Vitebsk region will set a memorial sign.

The Vitebsk region is home to about five thousand combatants in other states. Of these, 1.9 thousand people - members of the "Belarusian Union of veterans of the war in Afghanistan." During the fighting in Afghanistan killed 145 natives of Vitebsk.
