As part of the exit of the cinema club, implemented the project "Makeout", arrived in Viciebsk from the capital for the first time, the US was shown documentary Brands Goodman "Sexual education". «Makeout» exists in Belarus from January, 2014. It carries out educational and research activities related to gender, sexuality, and the peculiarities of their manifestations in our country.
Film screening took place on 30 January. In the film, attended by representatives of different social groups and sexual identities. It reveals a wide range of kinds of sanctimonious attitude to gender issues, defined by the established public morality. As the authors of the film, the ignorance of the body, an obsession with virginity, religion patriarchal, repressive treatment of minorities – these and other problems in the projection of modern civilization, not only turn into trauma for individuals, but also hinder the development of social progress.
And after the movie screening there was a free dialogue, sometimes take the form of discussion. While he discussed the problems of gender education in Belarus and tolerance in matters of sexual identity.
Note that many in the audience were representatives of the LGBT community, and because the discussion was quite specific. So, it was said that the repressive family, school, social environment for those who understood himself to be outside the scope of normative heterosexuality, is a common phenomenon in Belarus. Surprisingly, so far in a number of Viciebsk school teachers claim the inadmissibility of sexual relations before marriage in general. According to participants, it says only hopeless rigidity of their consciousness, imprinted costs Soviet morality and patriarchal religious obscurantist.
The meeting took place thanks to the efforts of the coordinator of the cinema club «Makeout» Svetlana Gatalskaya and moderator Andrew Karpeko. Viciebsk is the third city after the Brest and Gomel, where a similar event. Svetlana Gatalskaya expressed hope for continuation of such interesting meetings:
"This is our third exit film club, and we hope that they will become regular. We understand that the main focus of events is in Minsk, and we believe that it is wrong. Because we try as often as possible to travel to regional centers. In addition, most of those who created «Makeout», do not from Minsk. And we understand what it means to live not in the capital and have a wider opportunity to talk on such topics."
