To respond positively to the invitation of Leonid Svetsik, Vitebsk authorities took almost a whole year. But as a result of problems with the safety of residents of several houses, which drew attention to human rights officials of the executive committee, resolved.

Leonid Svetsik filed his appeal in Vitebsk city executive committee at the end of 2012. While in the courtyards of houses number number 1, 1a and 3 Lenin Street was building eye clinic. In connection with the construction, the neighborhood has increased traffic, and human rights activist suggested the authorities to take some measures to protect the inhabitants from the increased threat.

In particular, it was proposed to organize the lighting in these yards in the dark, put a road sign "Caution Children" at the entrance to this neighborhood from the street Khmelnitsky, establish a "speed bump" near the entrance gate of the nearby kindergarten and make neproezdnoy arch of the house number 1a on Lenin Street.

City Council officials acknowledged the correctness of the arguments Leonid Svetsik and sent directives to the concerned organizations to implement its proposals. But it took time. Nevertheless, the result is: "Gorsvet" put lights in the yards, on a road near a kindergarten number 36 appeared element of forced speed reduction and traffic cops installed near the sign "Beware of children".

Thus, we have an example of how indifferent citizen led to the solution of local problems of the residents. This shows that we should not turn a blind eye to such problems: Active citizens can really change the surrounding space and make all of our lives more comfortable and safe.
