On August 8, the Rasony District Court recognized the 56-year-old director of the communal unitary agricultural enterprise "Krasnapolle", Sergei Karpenko, who ran the 24-year-old farm guilty of taking bribes by extortion.
As established by the investigation, on May 4, Karpenko, who was also a deputy of the district council, while in his office, demanded a bribe in the form of food and alcohol from the unemployed for employment in CUAE.
After that, a woman who wanted to find a job in the CUAE "Krasnapolle", appealed to the police. On May 7 she brought to the office and handed over to the director of the agricultural enterprise a bottle of cognac, three sticks of sausage and a box of chocolates totaling 45 rubles 56 kopecks.
After that, Sergei Karpenko was detained with red-tape in his office, and then placed in the detention center.
Circumstances that mitigate the responsibility of the accused, the court recognized the presence of a minor child on his dependent and the payment in full of the amount of income from criminal activity.
As a result, Sergei Karpenko was found guilty of taking a bribe by extortion, and on the basis of part 2 of Article 430 of the Criminal Code he was sentenced to 4 years imprisonment with confiscation of all property and deprivation of the right to hold posts associated with the implementation of organizational, administrative and administrative- economic functions for 4 years. The former chairman will be serving his sentence in the correctional colony in conditions of an enhanced regime, the press service of the Vitebsk regional court reported.
The verdict has not entered into legal force and can be appealed and challenged in accordance with the procedure established by law.
