In the regional court a Viciebsk resident Victoria Grom tried to appeal the decision of the Oktyabrsky district court on March 27 this year.
Victoria was detained on March 26 at Victory Square immediately after the unauthorized action of "non-monkeys" and was awarded by judge Alesia Zharikova to a fine of 30 basic units under administrative clause 23.34 (part 1) for participation in two actions – on March 25 and 26.
Viktoria Grom's complaint against the decision of the court of first instance, to which she was brought to administrative responsibility, was considered by Judge Svetlana Ivanova. The judge of the regional court was especially interested in the question of what she was doing on the square during the action.
During the meeting it turned out that Victoria was not just standing on Victory Square on Freedom Day, but she also decided to give an interview to STV state television.
"I thought that if state television interviewed people on the square, then there should be no problems. And I agreed to talk with journalists," – Victoria justified her courage.
Also, Victoria complained that Judge Zharikova, taking the decision, did not pay attention to her difficult financial situation: "690 rubles – this is my three monthly salary! I'm divorced and bring up a small child. Where do I get this money from?"
To which Judge Ivanova replied: "You can ask that you are given installments."
This is the kind of judicial system we have – it takes care of people. Probably, soon there will be loans and offer to pay fines.
After hearing all the arguments of Victoria, the judge, as expected, decided to leave unchanged the decision of Judge Zharikova, and her complaint – without satisfaction.
