In the first nine months of the Viciebsk region registered 148 corruption cases, which is 22.3% more compared to the same period last year.

Since the beginning of 2016 in Belarus there is a new version of the law "On Combating Corruption", which not only prevents many cases of corruption, but also eliminates the gaps in the law-making, especially in the investigation of crimes in the sphere of public administration and economics. Not surprisingly, according to the prosecutor's office area, in the structure of corruption-related crimes is still dominated by bribery and embezzlement through abuse of office.

In January-September, 106 people involved corruption in the criminal liability, which is almost two times more than last year (59). The majority of corrupt officials have received real prison terms.

For example, the former chief engineer of the company service centers and trade, which took "gratitude" for his help in passing the checkup, sentenced to four years' imprisonment with confiscation of property and the prohibition to hold management positions within five years.

Statistics show that the highest number of corruption crimes were registered in trade (29), transport (28), in the field of agricultural production (17). In the area of ​​public administration is committed 8 crimes, law enforcement officers - 5.

Material damage from corruption amounted to over 660 thousand denominated rubles, 64% of this amount is refunded.
