The agro Radziuki (Šarkoŭščyna district) paid tribute to the peace of the Jews who were shot near the village, on the banks of the river Hnilucha, June 18, 1942. On that day, punitive SS troops killed more than 500 people. It is in their memory in the agro-town opened a memorial sign.
Itself a memorial sign – this is a common granite slab, which immortalized the names of people who were executed only because they are Jews. Reliable information on the victims gathered residents of the area.
The opening ceremony brought together the local population, the inhabitants of the district, representatives of the authorities. Among the guests there were also two families who came from far away – Diana and Michael Lazarus, Johnny and Douglas Kletter. Thanks to these people memorial sign and appeared in Radziuki – they has for decades led the cooperation with the Jewish communities of our country, spend their money and collect donations to ensure that all places where buried Jews remain in good perished in the Holocaust state.
Today Belarus has established 91 memorial sign. However, the work will be carried out in the country and on until all the places where the rest were shot civilians, not be celebrated monuments.
As part of the memorial meeting was held to lay flowers to the monument to the dead civilians and read the memorial prayer for the victims of fascism.
Foreign guests and representatives of the NGO "Union of Belarusian Jewish Public Associations and Communities", present at the event were introduced to the culture of the region and its traditions.
After the opening ceremony in Radziuki the guests went to agrotown Łužki, where the memory of peaceful Jews murdered during the war years, as immortalized by a memorable sign. Here, guests had an interesting tour, from which they were able to learn a lot of facts about the unique history of the village.
