Alley of Manchurian walnut planted in agro Vaŭkałaty in the framework of initiatives for the development of rural areas Dokšycy district.
In late March of this year, a Memorandum of Understanding between the 30 regions of Belarus and the United Nations Development Programme under the EU/UNDP project to promote the development of the regions in our country. The purpose of the project – to develop the capacity, self-government and initiatives at the local level. So, in Dokšycy district, who entered the thirty pilot areas to test innovative approaches to the development of the territory, it is planned to implement three initiatives.
The first results of the implementation initiatives Dokšycy district where the applicant was the International Environmental Association "Nature and we" were announced recently, in mid-April. Near the river Patačanka in Vaŭkałaty this purpose gathered students, teachers and technicians of the local high school, kindergarten staff, pharmacy, recreation center and just an agro-town residents.
All together they took part in cleaning the recreation area as well as in the beginning of the tab ecological path – in the landing alley Manchurian walnut seedlings of 20. Alley itself, as intended, will go along ecotrail, located on the legal side of the river to Stanisłaŭskaje lake.
Participants of the event also became the regional coordinator of the Vitebsk region of the United Nations Development Programme Andrei Davydenko, head of the board IEA "Nature and we" Oleg Lysenok, the head of the District Council of Deputies Valentine Sivitskaya, deputy head of the executive committee Valentina Randarevich.
Funding for this initiative is financed by the European Union in the amount of about 16 million euros, said Mr. Davydenko.
Improvement of recreation areas it is noted as the first initiative in the region. Ahead is still much that needs to be done, because the queue – 10 village councils. In Vaŭkałaty, according to him, has already done enough: built a bridge over the river, we put a gazebo for relaxing local residents and ecotourists, held public environmental assessment water body.
In the future, as emphasized by the regional coordinator, much will depend on the population, which is not indifferent to the ecological status of the district, and from the results that will bring the activities of the Public Environmental office and school’s environmental squad.
Oleg Lysenok at the event spoke about the activities IEA "Nature and we", existing for 8 years and is engaged in the salvation of small rivers in Belarus. The main objective of this initiative, he called the detection and prevention of pollution of small rivers and other bodies of water. Moreover, he expressed the hope that in this case waiting Vaŭkałaty active development due to environmental educated school squad.
Plans for the future with respect to rural development area shared head Vaŭkałaty rural executive committee Antonina Babariko.
