Free Trade Union of April 16 held a picket at the entrance of Połacak plant "Fiberglass" in protest against the non-renewal of a contract with a trade union activist Nikolai Sharakh.

The workers of the plant was distributed newspaper Free Trade Union of the proposal to send a letter of protest to the Director of the plant Nicholas Bunakov. Action director violate a number of norms of the legislation of Belarus and the Government's obligations, if he does not sign a contract to work on April 30.

The picket was held from 14:00 to 15:10 during the shift change when the first change came to the factory, the second – the output from the plant. trade union activists have distributed about 300 ballots Free Trade Union, in which the workers are invited to send letters of protest to the Director. Factory workers thanked SPB union activists for what they continue active actions in the interests of the workers of the plant, directing the various complaints and submitting claims to the court on the employer – JSC "Połacak-Fiberglass". The workers complained that the director does not pay for the passage of the medical commission, the low pay for improvements in the day and other problems.

The picket was held without notifying the employer of the time of the picket, guard the plant released only to know what kind of video shooting. He explained that this trade union action, and the security guard went to his post, having read trade union press.

According to the Belarusian legislation the trade unions have the right, without the consent of the employer, to organize their activities. Even the local public authorities shall refrain from any interference in the activities of the trade union, in accordance with international obligations of Belarus. All this stems from the Law on International Treaties and the Convention №87 of the International Labour Organization.

If the director Bunakov not enter into an employment contract with Nikolai Sharakh for a new term, the Free Trade Union intends to hold another rally on April 28 in the center of the town of Połacak. The local executive committee has already notified about the intention of the Free Trade Union to hold a mass event.
