Readers of Vorša was asked to write about the situation in Vorša company "Elect", which belongs to the Belarusian Society of the Visually Impaired. 51% of workers there – people with disabilities.
"Yesterday [Wednesday 10 February] was a strike. In hindsight, we have changed the rules, and it turned out that all persons with disabilities in the company failed to comply with the norm for the month. And with this in mind, given the estimated 900 000 [about $ 41] per month of work, and some even less.
Then initiated a meeting at which they said they could send a quantity surveyor, but it will not change anything, and the rules are such that they need. As a result, plant stopped work for 4 hours. collective appeal was written in the Labor Committee. Then the director somewhere suddenly disappeared, and an hour later was given the new calculations with the state established minimum wage (since the day of persons with disabilities are not 8, and 7 hours – and the minimum salary is reduced accordingly). After that, the shop has earned", – wrote the readers.
They also sent an audio recording the meeting, which confirms their words.
"What kind of rule that does not comply with poltseha? – I resented at a meeting of one of the workers. – Enterprise wheelchair, people working with disabilities. What is the rate that, after working 20 years at the company, I cannot perform? Show me a man who will make 950 forks? Maybe I did something wrong doing – I'll see how he does. Where this rule where this order? We showed no documents."
The company produces electric appliances. This work forces the disabled.
"Come on, comrades, let's at least once stand up for themselves so that they mouth shut and did his job the way we need it! Just bandits! With such a salary, they can do something here to demand? I have never received such a small salary!" – Called for one of the workers.
With this began the strike.
To understand the situation, we called the administration of the enterprise. Branch Director Roman P. Siskin fact denies the labor conflict: "Every month we hold a meeting scheduled in the shop. And yesterday received a clerical error in the calculation. We have a rate of pay. Now all computers, and that there was an error in the calculation. This question has been raised, and we have decided."
At the headquarters in Vitebsk aware of the failure. The management explained that at the meeting there was a question about the salaries, and it was resolved in favor of the employees.
Employees of the Vorša asked to arrange things so that at least the minimum wage they could earn. "Here people have received 900 thousand! I'll pay for an apartment, and I'm going to live?" – Reasonably says one of the women. Employees were asked to talk about this situation, so that it will never happen again, otherwise the most vulnerable people have to starve.
