The reason was the misconduct of the employer, who learned about the transfer of contributions through accounting, began to put pressure on union members.
"When Associate Membership employees do not have to pay dues through accounts. The employer, having received such data, behaves towards members of our union in good faith. Recently, in one of the shops there was a blatant case. Head went to three employees and made it clear: either they write a statement of withdrawal from the Free Trade Union, or fired. Workers have written to the accounting application for termination of deductions from their salaries of union dues. But this does not mean that they came out of our cells. First, we eliminate the union worker, if he does not pay fees for more than three months without a valid reason. Here, as we know, the workers have faced harassment from the authorities. Secondly, we offer employees associate membership and the transition to a new form of contribution", - said the leader of the Free Trade Union of the primary "Polotsk-Fiberglass" Victor Stukau.
Associate members enjoy all the rights of members of the SPB, except one – can’t be elected to the governing bodies of the union. They may seek legal advice about writing different applications, appeals and complaints. Their opinion will be taken into account in the planning of the union. They can participate in various activities of trade unions, including training courses, seminars, youth and women's areas of activity of the union. Associate membership is common in many European countries.
