Belarusian authorities are indifferent to the problems of the liquidators of Chernobyl, I'm sure colonel, chairman of the Vitebsk regional office of public organization "Union Chernobyl-Belarus", registered in Ukraine, Anatoly Gnevko. He stated this in an interview with "Dialogue".
In 1988, the Belarusian Colonel Anatoly L. Gnevko, who served on the staff of the Siberian Military District, was sent to the Chernobyl zone for further service as chief of staff of Task Force Civil Defense of the USSR in the aftermath of the Chernobyl accident. April 18, he arrived at the new duty station and within six months performed his duties in the vicinity of a nuclear power plant.
Today, almost thirty years after the Chernobyl disaster, Anatoly Gnevko willingly shared with "Dialogue" my thoughts about those problems that now face the immediate liquidators of the Chernobyl accident.
- It is not far off the 30 anniversary of the Chernobyl tragedy, but the current government does not want to ignore us or the challenges that we face. Many of our neighbors Chernobyl - respected people. Do not need any presents - at least some basic respect for us made civic duty. You at least moral support! Would be quite enough letters of thanks or cards, not to mention the commemorative medal.
Imagine, even Kirghiz awarded its liquidators medal dedicated to the 20th anniversary of the Chernobyl disaster. The same medal Russians released. By the way, I was among the awardees. And Ukrainians gave me a Jubilee Medal in connection with the anniversary. And the local authorities virtually ignored us and the Chernobyl problem. Even the icon is not released. This here is the attitude. Is not that a shame? But the opposition does not see us, but could be around the Chernobyl problems and unite them all.
I do not want in any way to insult the soldiers-internationalists, but unlike them, we just defended the Belarusian people. That was less radiation in our country. And what made? Those who defend the Afghan people, the Ethiopian, Syrian, Egyptian, today in honor and respect their wishes State, awards, monuments opens.
Several times I have approached the authorities: let's put in Vitebsk at least a memorial stone to the victims of Chernobyl. I answer: there is no money. So we ourselves would have collected.
In our city there is not even the street names of the heroes-liquidators, and I have repeatedly acted with such an initiative. Paradoxically, the authorities treat us the same way as those who act with some political demands. The only relief that has remained with me as Chernobyl liquidator - is extraordinary to see a doctor, but even that I do not abuse the privilege. Always defer to all women and men elders.
And still some benefit to an extraordinary device my children to kindergarten. More cynicism is hard to imagine. Such an attitude to us by the authorities in any frame is not included. Where have you seen! We know also that the defenders of the motherland has always been held in high esteem and respect.
Every year on April 26 we are going on an impromptu meeting-requiem on Assumption Hill. We talk, remember ... And at the same time, the authorities urged on the bus and twenty police "for our protection." At the end is lowered into the Dvina memorial wreath. So police officers, dressed in civilian clothes, came up and asked: "Why do you clog up the river?" It turns out: we do not have any rights on the memory or the freedom of expression. Yes, except for it?
That's what I told my good friend, Sergei Ikonnikov. In Orsha former lives chernobylets Anatoly Bondarenko. So, after he was fifty years old, he decided to take advantage of existing benefits and to retire at that age. However, Orsha City Court did not recognize him as a victim of the accident at the Chernobyl nuclear power plant, although during the passage of military service a few months he was in the vicinity of the station.
The fact that there are no documents confirming this fact has not been preserved, and the picture on the background of the fourth unit is not proof. "Maybe you specifically went to Chernobyl, photographed, and now on the basis of the wish to take advantage of benefits", - said the judge to the plaintiff. Here is the consciousness of today's judges. It turns out that conscripts could easily enter the Chernobyl zone, where almost every five kilometers were exposed positions badge.
However, this did not stop Bondarenko and filed an appeal in the Vitebsk Regional Court, and as witnesses drew his former platoon commander Sergei Ikonnikova and his colleagues Ivan Zuev and Oleg Lavrenova living in Vitebsk. The trial took place, but, like the previous one, ended without result. To judge by the plaintiff presented three witnesses who are in good health and mind, do not become necessary to confirm the argument put forward by Bondarenko claims. Sergei Ikonnikov as a reserve officer at the cost of considerable effort managed to get documents confirming the passage of service to them during the liquidation of consequences of Chernobyl. But the fact that the aforementioned citizens at the time were his immediate subordinates failed to prove. Platoon commander Lieutenant S. Ikonnikov was, but the personnel had allegedly not been, although submitted to the court photographs of his platoon was photographed completely full, in its entirety.
Such are our government, the legal system and society that the problems of Chernobyl if not spit, then obviously they absolutely do not care about it...
