The idea was expressed more than once : a proposal to erect a monument to world-famous writer, a native of Vitebsk, Vitebsk acted pleased Belarusian Language Society. For past anniversaries Bykov expressed other suggestions: give the name of Vasil Bykov street in Minsk, Hrodna, Vitebsk and Ushachi, unveiled a plaque on the house in Minsk, where the writer lived release envelopes with a portrait of Vasil Bykov, create a museum exhibit dedicated to the writer, the National History Museum, Vitebsk and Hrodna regional museums.
