December 26 Republican Representative human rights organization "Belarusian Helsinki Committee" Leonid Svetsik not allowed on a joint meeting of the Vitebsk City Executive Committee and the Presidium of the Vitebsk City Council of Deputies Education territorial election commission in the city of Vitebsk. The formal reason for refusing entry to the meeting was the lack of Leonidas in the list of invitees .

Electoral Code of the Republic of Belarus is established that the preparation and conduct of elections shall be open and transparent . In addition, the Law of the Republic of Belarus " On Local Government and Self-Government in the Republic of Belarus" allows representatives of public organizations to attend meetings of the executive and administrative authorities . However, the requirement of the law was not taken into account by the authorities - they decided not to invite to the meeting of the human rights activist and City Executive Committee of the Council of Deputies.

"Already at the stage of formation of the territorial election commission authorities have gone to direct violations of the Electoral Code of the country - did not provide transparency of the electoral process . The authorities also rudely trampled on my political right - directly and personally participate in public affairs . Therefore, there is no longer any desire nor reason to continue to watch these "elections", - Leonid Svetsik said.
