A member of the Conservative Christian Party BPF Jan Dzyarzhautsau sent to the administration of the October district of Vitebsk bid to host the rally on April 26. The picket is timed to the 27th anniversary of the Chernobyl accident. Recall, this is not the only event scheduled for April 26 opposition politicians in Vitebsk: earlier application filed at the rally regional chairman of the Belarusian Popular Front Leonid Autuchou.
Jan Dzyarzhautsau believes that the Chernobyl tragedy, we must remember always: "Chernobyl for Belarus is the horror. He brought a lot of suffering. How many people took an explosion! How many diseases!.. Die prematurely children, people of mature age. And will die hundreds and thousands of years."
The purpose of the proposed action is not only honoring the memory of those who suffered from the effects of the Chernobyl accident. The picketers also want to protest against the construction of the nuclear power plant in Ostrovets. "You can not prevent a repeat of the tragedy. Belarusian nuclear power plant should not be. We should not build a nuclear power plant, and move to renewable energy sources - wind, solar energy, as is done in Europe," - Jan Dzyarzhautsau says.
