A leader of the organizing committee of the trade union of entrepreneurs "Together", a member of the United Civil Party and a possible candidate for the forthcoming elections to the parliament Irina Yaskevich shared with our correspondent his thoughts on the current election campaign.
Mrs Irina, I wanted to know, what is guided by an experienced fighter as you, agreeing to participate in the notoriously unfair elections?
Guide the understanding that people need to communicate, people need to inspire thought about the possibility of change. Citizens need to explain that the government deliberately puts society before choosing where on one side of the scale of human well-being and decent pay, and on the other – the horror stories about the war. We are not at war, we are for a decent life for transparent distribution of budget funds. We would like to stop Ridicule people who are in such conditions that they are forced simply to survive.
Today, entrepreneurs, to which I can include here also survive, because three-quarters of its profits we pay on forced payments. That being said, if the buyer left the market, it is not true – they also survive, squatting and staring hungrily at things in our rolling shutters in the hope to buy something. Today, with all the people, one common problem: the bureaucracy, which for the sake of peace and comfort in their seats ready to bureaucratic reduced to poverty for all citizens.
I understand that today people are inert, that collect the required number of signatures will not be easy, so I'm going on the party list, but to go from door to door, I will for the sake of communicating with people. I have to feel the mood prevailing in the masses and understand what to do in order to benefit. Let someone these words seem stilted, but I think it is very important for people to see the deputy, not only on the election picture before the election, but also to live.
In addition, there is an unpleasant pattern: MPs after the election, lost in some Bermuda Triangle. Through direct communication with voters I say: no feedback from the citizens of the deputy is unable to fulfill its function. By the way, I already have experience of participation in the election campaign. In 2008, I was a candidate. At first I was not registered, but I made an appointment with Yarmoshyna, and I was reinstated in rights.
To say that someone from the Democratic candidates in today's environment where some elected – it is a utopia. I understand clearly. You just need to do their job, and we need to talk about it with the people. I will talk about the difficulties, I will debunk the myths that create a state on the entrepreneurs, pensioners, which are supposed to blame for the crisis. Such approval authorities say about irresponsibility and incompetence of the current leadership of the state.
Do you think whether the crisis in the economy in some way affect the mood of voters, and the election results?
Today's mood in society, I would characterize as the calm before the storm. Today, the state is that many are hoping for maybe: maybe blow over, and everything will return to normal. Although many people understand that it is time to defend, it's time to do something, because the jobs do not come from nothing, and wages do not come from nothing. It is very difficult to say what will this crisis, but that the storm will – understand it all.
Imagine the unthinkable: Irina Yaskevich became a member of the House of Representatives. What are the issues of parliamentary activity in this case would be in the field of your attention?
I believe that my closest three areas: women, family and businesses. After all, entrepreneurship I have devoted more than 12 years. In this regard, I shall be competent, and all my actions are aware, the experience gained huge. As a woman, I know how difficult it is now wives and mothers who, so to speak, out of nothing have to do something, and while still smiling and listening to the valiant husband swears TV, knowing that, he did not recover. The gold reserves of the country – are women. In this I am convinced. Therefore, I will speak for the seven-hour working day for our women. It is necessary to enable them to be able to devote more time to family, children. Maybe now it sounds like an insult, but we must think about the future.
What this year's event particularly memorable from your trade union or political activity, somehow influenced you or have had a significant public outcry?
Well, firstly, it is seven hundred entrepreneurs Viciebsk region near the executive committee. This consolidation has allowed us to come together. As a result, a working group was established under the Ministry of Economy.
Secondly, our union of entrepreneurs "Together", which are not registered in Belarus, including in the international trade union organization StreetNet International, in which representatives of 47 countries of the world. I have received an invitation to come to the board of this organization. I'll talk about how we have to survive small traders, our individual businesses. This is very responsible, there is a sense of pride that you do something in this difficult time. But at the same time upsetting the inertia of people. Force becomes smaller when you realize that people have gone to the guerrillas that they are waiting for something unknown.
