Currently Sergey Ryzhov is serving his sentence in a penal colony number 15 (Mahiloŭ). April 2, 2015 by the court of Pervomaisky district of Viciebsk, he was sentenced to six and a half years in a penal colony for sexual assault and disorderly conduct (Part 1 of Article 167 and Part 1 of Article 339 of the Criminal Code).
The Court held in closed session, considered proven that in November 2013 the Viciebsk politician committed a crime, raping a sleeping man in a detoxification center. After the incident in the drunk tank Sergey Ryzhov fled to Russia to escape prosecution by law enforcement agencies. But he had to return after losing overseas passport.
On his return to Belarus Sergey Ryzhov he said he was going to take part in the presidential elections 2015. Doctor Igor Postnov in January 2015 even managed to say that he is ready to lead his campaign headquarters. But soon after the "old sins" Ryzhov was arrested during the investigation and placed in jail. The investigation is now known, ended with the sentence.
Sergey Ryzhov as a politician was known for his pro-Russian local public position. He has repeatedly declared itself as a sincere believer Russian Orthodox Church. Once working fruit and vegetable plant manager, Ryzhov tried to set up production of canned food, the church sanctified, but his initiative was not understood by the company management, and he was fired. He also took an active part in the imperial chauvinist "Marche Slave", which was held in November 2013 in Mahiloŭ under the slogan "Glory to Russia!".
In 2010, the politician tried to run for presidency in Belarus, but the October 21, 2010 declared that removes his candidacy, as his initiative group was not able to collect the required number of nominating a candidate signatures.
