Viciebsk regional court has decided to leave unchanged the ruling of the Court of Hłybokaje. Freelance journalist from deep appealed a fine of 25 basic units under Article 22.9 of the Administrative Code for the cooperation with foreign media without accreditation, and still considers the verdict unreasonable.
Tatiana Smotkina: "It is a letter from the Viciebsk regional court with the decision of the judge Svetlana Ivanova that the court order Hłybokaje district against me is left unchanged. But my complaint – without satisfaction. I still do not believe it has violated the law. The right to work as a journalist I guaranteed by the Constitution of Belarus. Accreditation I should not have, because I am a freelance journalist. And if the judge announced the unjust sentences that violate the rights of citizens, then the time will come and they will answer for their actions. "
After consulting with a lawyer Tatyana Smotkina plans to continue to appeal the verdict of Hłybokaje court, this time in the Constitutional Court, and then does not exclude recourse to the UN Committee on Human Rights.
