– The case for a long time for us was quite unclear. About Michael Zhamchuzhny, we learned only after his arrest – human rights activist said. – Our colleagues in Viciebsk also knew not to say anything definite about what is involved in the arrest, they could not. I'm almost a year corresponded with Michael, but the letters had limited information, and often it was absolutely unclear what the person wrote.

Of course, the arrest of the founder of the human rights organization immediately attracted our attention, and we have taken many steps to get at least some information on his case. For a long time, these measures did not bring success, and only the fact of the arrest of Mikhail Zhamchuzhny are insufficient grounds to say at once that the person is prosecuted for human rights activities. Still, we need to know what really happened.

We proceed from the assumption that the mere nature of the political opposition or human rights activities can not be some stable base to refer the person to a political prisoner, even in the case of deprivation of liberty. While the increased interest in this case.

It is not important whether the person is an opposition politician, a human rights activist, journalist or a public person, and that what he is accused of the act, what were the actions of the authorities in this case and what were the real motives.

The trial of Mikhail Zhamchuzhnyy also added clarity, because it was closed to the nature. – According to the documents, the Michael Zhamchuzhny was in the development of so-called power structures (in legal language this is called "participation in the extended investigative experiment") on charges of spying for a foreign country. As for me, this is nonsense, but for the court – a plausible version of what was the secret services to develop an entire lengthy operation.

Also note what information asked for Zhamchuzhny: illegal activities of police officers, about torture and prison conditions, corruption in law enforcement. Why foreign intelligence service would have such information, and how it can help "change the situation in the country" from abroad? Michael is now in prison in Navasady, his lawyer is preparing a supervisory appeal. We voiced our position on the case of Zhamchuzhny and hope that the court will take into account the disclosure of the illegal schemes that were used against him and the security services have led to a conviction.
