Lecture "The Right to Language" was held on July 22 in Novopolotsk, in the office of the local branch of the human rights center "Viasna." It was conducted by a well-known linguist and social activist Vinсuk Viaczorka. During the lecture dealt with the issue of discrimination on linguistic grounds in applying to public authorities, the methods of upholding the right to education in the Belarusian language, etc. In the near future planned round table in which the exact steps will be discussed in Novopolotsk rights for use of the Belarusian language.

Also during the event, a survey was conducted to determine the problems students who violate the rights of residents of Novopolotsk. Activists have noted that the most significant problems are in Novopolotsk state Ecology (first in the country to emissions of hazardous substances in the air) and violation of the right to freedom of peaceful assembly (in recent years the city was not allowed any share). In the near future on these topics will be organized lectures and round tables.
