Exactly three months after the closure of the country's only Museum of Private Collections Vitebsk regional council has decided to reconstruct the building of the museum for a special service house.
The museum was closed on July 12, the first day of the "Slavic Bazaar". Then the doors of cultural institutions announcement appeared to the effect that the museum "is closed for technical reasons", and meanwhile, the staff were ordered in two days to vacate the premises.
It has now become clear that the work of the museum will not be restored. All artifacts that were here, given the Vitebsk Regional Museum.
History museum unique for Belarus has 19 years. It was opened on July 22, 1993. Curiously, the opening day also coincided with the first day of the "Slavic Bazaar".
The exposition of the museum were items collected famous collector Ivan Galkevich (1898-1976). His widow donated to the museum about 7 thousand items - almost half of the subjects who were exposed to display. In addition, the museum always special exhibitions from the collections of individuals, held meetings with collectors.
