The celebration took place on June 20 in the courtyard of the house-museum of the writer in the village Bulls. Attending the event, about a hundred people from Viciebsk, Minsk, Polack, Hlybokaje, Hrodna, Pastavy, Šarkoŭščyna and other cities of our country. There were even guests from Ukraine. During the celebration, he was awarded the prize "for Freedom of Thought", which this year received Nil Gilewicz.

By tradition, the event was opened by the head of Vitebsk regional organization of the Belarusian Language Society, Joseph Naumchik. Then he passed the literary readings dedicated to Vasil Bykov, after which Vitebsk organization BLS awarded diplomas for the use of the Belarusian language in the local media in 2014. They got to the regional editions Shumilino, Miory, Braslav, Dokshitsy and hocks, as well as two independent publications - the newspaper "Volnaje Hlybokaje" and "Kaztalicki Viesnil".

Following the announcement of winners of the award "For Freedom of Thought". The current winner of the presented artist Ales Marochkin. Nil Gilewicz for health reasons could not come, but sent his greeting, which was made at the meeting.

Participants of the celebration could hear songs performed by Lyavon Volsky, Tatiana Motofonova, George Stankevich.
