The South Korean pentavalent vaccine “Eupenta”, around which a scandal erupted in August with the death of a child, continues to be used in Belarusian clinics. The announcement of this was noticed in the Viciebsk children's polyclinic №2.
But it turned out that this is not the arbitrariness of Viciebsk doctors. As explained in the Ministry of Health: "“Eupenta” vaccine, except for one series, was not confiscated from polyclinics. Vaccination she did not stop.
Vaccine vaccinated children in Minsk clinics. For example, in the metropolitan clinic number 10 spend free vaccination “Eupenta”. However, there is a choice: if one of the parents considers the drug dangerous, for 75 rubles you can vaccinate a child with the Belgian vaccine Infanrixhex or Infanrix. Information about vaccination “Eupenta” was confirmed in the Baraŭlany polyclinic, which is located in the Minsk region.
On August 13, a two-month-old boy died in the Hancavičy hospital after planned vaccinations. He was given two drugs: Eupenta and Imavax Polia. After the injection, the boy became ill, the doctors could not save him.
As it later became known, the boy died of anaphylactic shock. The Ministry of Health then stated that it would suspend the use of one Eupenta series until all the necessary inspections were carried out.
At a briefing on August 29, shortly after the incident with the death of a child in the Hancavičy district, Sergey Marchenko, deputy director of the Center for Examinations and Tests in Health Care, said: “The Eupenta vaccine is undergoing registration, but it can be used”.
“Eupenta” has not yet appeared in the register of medicines of Belarus.
