The incident occurred on March 27 in the Oktyabrsky District Court of Viciebsk, where Judge Inna Grabovskaya was to examine the case of journalist Kastus Mardzvincau, who was detained – the day before. Before the beginning of the process, she stated that she wanted to hold a meeting in her office, and therefore would not allow anyone to consider it.
In the corridor were more than 10 people who want to get to the, and they began to defend its legitimate right to get to the process.
However, the police escort that accompanied Mr. Mardzvincau literally pushed the journalist Elena Shabunya of the judge's office. The one who did this refused to give his name and position.
At the trial of the journalist managed to get only two people – those whom Mr. Mardzvincau glimpsed in the corridor, and then applied for their personal presence.
Meanwhile Viciebsk activist, human rights activist Irina Tretyakova complained to the head of the court Elena Popkova for illegal actions and several times demanded that Judge Inna Grabovskaya allow all those who wish to attend.
"There were four empty chairs in the office, and next to the office there was a free courtroom, but Judge Inna Grabovskaya never agreed to either invite to her office or move to another room." The process was quick: Kastus Mardzvincau said he was a journalist– freelancer, and he wanted to tell about the campaign on March 26 on the website and social networks Judge asked. "Did you have that right?"
Kastus began to explain to the judge about constitutional rights, she did not agree. And on the basis of operative videotapes, she concluded that the journalist was a participant in an unauthorized action. Although the videos showed that he does not chant slogans, he does not have banners and only takes pictures, "said journalist Elena Stepanova, who managed to get into the judge's office, as Mardzvincau asked for it.
The human rights activist Irina Tretyakova filed a complaint with the Chairman of the Viciebsk Regional Court Nicholay Khamichenok the illegal actions of judges Grabowska. She stressed that she tried to prevent violation of the law:
"The process took place in the judge's office, locked from the inside to the castle." There was only one thing: to declare my presence, and I spoke with the judge through closed doors. "The result was that the doors opened, the employee in the form of me pushed, and three other policemen who were in Corridor, literally, for legs and arms, dragged me from the office, so I ask in my complaint to give a legal assessment of the actions of Judge Grabovskaya and the chairman of the Oktyabrsky District Court, Popkova, who ignored the situation, and I ask the judges to explain that only they have Ravo dispose of the courthouse, and not a police convoy accompanying the detainees. And demand that the perpetrators are punished."
Behind closed doors the court decision has been sounded: to punish Kastusa Mardzvincau with arrest for the period of 15 days. The same term of arrest was awarded to the Viciebsk member of the Belarusian Association of Journalists Leonid Svetik (judge Tatyana Zhuravkova) – for trying to cover the shares on March 25 and 26. The independent journalist from Vorša Artem Sizintsev (judge Valentin Mikasev) was detained for 10 days in detention, who was detained in Viciebsk on March 25 and spent almost two days in a temporary detention facility before the trial.
