Nikolai Sharah deputy chairman of the SPB union: "My detention is not lawful. Because it violates the norms of international agreements Article 3 of the Convention on the protection of trade union rights. It states that the public authorities refrain from any interference which would restrict the right of trade unions to organize their activities. We have provided the police and the district executive committee extract from the decision of the trade union of their intention to ban the union picket and did not get."
Nicholas sent to the prosecutor two complaints against the police: the illegal detention, when he was in the performance of trade union duties; and the police refusal to invite him to counsel from the moment of detention, as provided by law (paragraph 5 of Art. 4.1 PIKoAP).
About the detention of trade union leader in the performance of their union duties immediately he was informed the Belarusian Congress of Democratic Trade Unions.
