From 11 to 14 May, the tenth international summer camp MediaBarCamp was held in Lithuania. From Viciebsk, representatives of the Republican Research and Education Public Association "Tell the Truth", members of the Vitebsk4Me initiative, party activists of the "Fair World" and young social democrats took part in the forum. Talk about the event, we asked the Viciebsk "Tell the Truth" members Oleg Kvetinsky and Maria Kozlova.
As Oleg Kvetinsky said, MediaBarCamp is a special platform for activists from the regions to exchange experience in implementing initiatives and projects in various fields of activity. The main event was aimed at activists from Belarus, but also young people from Ukraine, Russia, Georgia, Armenia were present. There was even an activist from a distant Cuba, and several people represented the organizers – Lithuania and Sweden. In total, the number of participants was more than 130 people.
MediaBarCamp was represented by a wide range of organizations from all regions of Belarus that deal with both politics, gender issues, and socio-cultural initiatives...
Exchange of experience, ideas, opinions and thoughts was possible in four different sections, within the framework of which their activities were held: workshops, discussions, presentations ... It was not possible to get to each of them, so everyone chose to their own taste and need, and movement Was free.
Oleg Kvetinsky represented the organization "Young Social Democrats – Young Hramada", of which the member is. Here's what he said:
"Within the framework of our section, I told the audience about the history of the organization, introduced our activities and plans. The speech was aimed at attracting potential partners with whom we could implement some joint projects that do not contradict our values.
Personally, for me it was quite informative to learn about the organization of the fight against corruption and about how to achieve budget transparency in Ukraine. The experience of Georgia was also interesting in terms of this problem. Georgian activists cited examples of successful cooperation between public initiatives and state power.
It seemed worthy of attention and Ukrainian experience of the re-innovation of the city space, when old, abandoned industrial buildings receive a second life and, thanks to investors, turn into cultural and commercial sites. It's interesting to know how this works for them. And how it can work for us.
In general, MediaBarCamp is a good opportunity to get to know people and find out who does what."
Says Maria Kozlova:
"Since I went for the first time, I did not submit any political project, but focused on the presentation of the private art salon-gallery" Wall ", in which I now work. The project was considered in the context of the Viciebsk art school. In my speech, I talked about how in 2010 the private cultural initiative of the artist Nikolai Dundin appeared in Viciebsk, told how the initiative contributes to the popularization of the Viciebsk art school and those people who are now engaged in all this. By the way, Viciebsk art school is a brand of the city, for the creation of which not a single cent was paid.
What I want to mention is that the four-day event was quite fruitful. The atmosphere of openness and accessibility facilitated contacts with both compatriots and youth representatives from other countries."
