According to the National Statistics Committee, at the beginning of May, the unemployment rate in the country amounted to 1 percent of the total number of workers. On May 1, there were at 43.4 thousand registered unemployed. With regard to the Vitebsk, at the end of 2014 registered in the Office of Labor, Employment and Social Protection of the executive committee were unemployed in 1144, and has been on June 1, 2015 their number was 2,608 people.

The unemployment rate in Vitebsk in 2014 amounted to 0.7% of the total working population in the same year, the figure for the first five months rose to 1.6%. Massive cuts in the enterprises of the city has not yet fixed, but the reduction of individual workers are almost everywhere. Due to the unfavorable economic conditions in most enterprises there are some form of hidden unemployment, which is constrained by volitional decision power. Thus, on a number of Vitebsk companies used part-time, which is one of the signs of hidden unemployment. In the country as a part-time employment has about 300 thousand people.

Fleeing from economic losses, Vitebsk firms are forced to freeze or reduce the level of salary. It is common practice and sending people into extraordinary leave without pay or with partial pay. There is also a form of hidden unemployment as a simple worker.

So, how can one be saved, but with high probability can be predicted that mass redundancies in a presidential election year the government does not allow it.
