Šarkoŭščyna signed the "Covenant of Mayors". The ceremony took place in the framework of an international conference on the promotion of sustainable development of the Eastern Partnership countries, which took place in Yerevan in October.
Participated in the international forum of 300 people representing the top management agencies, etc., as well as representatives of 14 cities and regions of our country – those who long supported the initiative "Covenant of Mayors", and those who joined her recently. Šarkoŭščyna in the Belarusian delegation was represented by the chairman of the district executive committee Nikolai Bogovich.
The project itself is an EU initiative, which involves a voluntary commitment by local government commitments to reduce by 20% greenhouse gas emissions by 2020 and by 40% – to 2030-th. The main objective – to develop stable power at the local level and to take measures to mitigate the effects and adapt to changes in climate.
The Agreement was signed already more than 7th thousands of cities and regions in different countries. The signing of the document gives the right of access to additional developments and technologies in the recent energy efficiency; given the opportunity to use the help of Consultation, grants and loans from international financial institutions for funding for sustainable energy development.
Among the new participants of the "Covenant of Mayors", who joined him at the conference in Yerevan, Armenian Alaverdi, Goris and Kapan; Belarusian Vorša, Šarkoŭščyna district and Mahiloŭ; Ukrainian Fastiv and Obukhiv and other cities and regions.
