Recently Pastavy district expanded cooperation with the near and far abroad. In particular, we strengthened twinned with Viesīte region (Latvia).

In the summer of last year it was established partnership and signed an agreement on cooperation with the local Viesīte government boundary. The delegation from abroad officially visited Pastavy district, also visited the cultural events. Today, developed bilateral projects for the implementation of youth policy, the preservation of heritage of culture and history, sports, and tourism development.

This summer, a return visit to Viesīte Municipality has caused the Belarusian delegation, which included the deputy chairman of the district executive committee, head of the branch "transport enterprise №17», as well as the head of the ideology department of culture and youth affairs. During his visit to Viesīte Belarusians acquainted with the cultural and historical heritage of the region and the current life of the city. Very remembered our compatriots festival, organized by the City Day. In addition, there was a meeting of representatives of the delegation of Pastavy district with the head of the Duma of Viesīte regional government and its deputies.

The outcome of the visit was to strengthen the partnership between the delivered and Viesīte, tying the close links between cultural workers and artists. In addition to this Pastavy executive committee and Viesīte municipality agreed to participate in the contest of joint projects in the Latvia-Lithuania-Belarus cross-border cooperation program, the implementation of which is carried out in 2014-2020., With regards to the issues of development of the tourism industry, the urban landscape, and others.
