Having considered the appeal of members of the primary organization of the Free Trade Union of Workers of “Połacak-Fiberglass”, the head of Połacak epidemiological service Hurynovich Michael said: “The sanitation rules and regulations there is no requirement for compulsory showering employees after the end of the work shift”. At the same time regulations on labor protection requires the majority of factory workers to take a shower after work.
In October 2015, 2,000 workers of “Połacak-Fiberglass” two days were scratched from the glass dust on the way home from work because of the lack of water in the shower. But Połacak labor inspectorate refused to examine the complaint about the absence of water toward the free trade union. Director and state officials consider such a normal sanitation, workers also say: “This is a complete disgrace...”
On the complaint of workers about the lack of water in the showers of the plant filed Free Trade Unions, said the chief state sanitary doctor of Połacak and Połacak region Mikhail Hurynovich. Workers were asked to “investigate and establish the violation by the employer of sanitary norms and to prosecute the guilty officials”.
Epidemiologists have found no violations
State officials wrote that experts checked and found:
1. Indeed, JSC “Połacak-Fiberglass” carried out the work on the chlorination of drinking water supply network.
2. During this period, “to use the shower in the building of CPL was not possible, as the staff of the enterprise has been notified in advance by placing ads at the entrance and in other public places”.
3. These works are carried out at the plant in accordance with the terms and requirements specified in the regulations SanNiP number 69 of 09/16/2014.
4. For the period of work on the chlorination of the water supply network were provided with running drinking bottled water.
Because of this, Mr. Hurynovich concludes that “violations of the requirements of existing sanitary and hygienic standards of the Administration “Połacak-Fiberglass” not found”. At the same time the chief state sanitary doctor of the city and the district did not forget to mention the positive aspects of the plant “Fiberglass”: “The company has a full set of sanitary facilities, created the conditions for the organization of hot meals works by works of catering and equipped with facilities for eating”.
Workers objected official epidemiologist
An activist of the Free Trade Union Vasily: “I believe that such a response Hurynovich citizen shows his reluctance to involve the administration of the company responsible for the violation of safety standards. He openly lie that the workers were warned that the shower will not operate. Perhaps in his duty to help the employer to dismiss employees on the requirements. In the future, we should not complain in urban structures, and immediately to the presidential administration – can then cease to lie.”
In fact, the management of the plant workers warned that it will not only drinking water, and gave the workers bottled mineral water, half a liter per employee. Warnings about the lack of water in the shower was not.
The employer is not responsible for the lack of water in the shower
Of course, at the “Fiberglass” there are many positive: the salary paid on time, there is a table. However, this does not relieve the administration of responsibility for workers to work a shower after work. We are talking about the production of harmful chemical substances from which workers brings special discomfort glass dust adhering to the body during operation and tingling in various places.
The chief state sanitary doctor of the city Mikhail Hurynovich argues that “sanitary rules and regulations there is no requirement for compulsory showering employees after the end of the work shift”. However, the safety instructions for operating the plant in black and white, that the employee is obliged to take a shower after the change.
It is surprising that the same complaint of the Free Trade Union activists, filed with the labor inspectorate, to be forwarded to the chief sanitary doctor Gurinovich. Head of Połacak interdistrict department of labor inspection Krivko Andrew said that he was not authorized to check health standards. Now, if the workers were asked to check the violation of employer rules of labor protection – then it would be verified.
Thus, government officials believe that the employer is not obliged to provide workers a shower, and the workers themselves have to look for water to wash after working in the chemical industries.
