Journalist Dmitry Lupach from Hlybokaje told that representatives of the KGB persuaded him to cooperate - that he gives details of local activists, meetings with members of the public association "Belarusian Association of Journalists" and on opposition activity in the region.
First, he decided to simply ignore the suggestions, but they were repeated. Then Dmitri decided to turn to journalists and human rights defenders. He said that he had several meetings with the secret services - and the Miensk and Hlybokaje.
The first took place on June 25 at the financial police. The journalist was not surprised by the call there because the day before he had problems with tax authorities and paid the penalty. Meanwhile, as it turned out, the call was not connected with this. He met local representatives of the KGB and the two unidentified men who said they had come specially from Miensk to meet with him. "They called themselves showed" red books ", but I surprise did not remember, - says Dmitry Lupach. - One of them began to ask me about the trips to Ukraine, as well as my contacts with foreigners. "
One of these "contacts" took place in June. Dmitry met with Poles who came to Hlybokaje district, and later on the website "ERB" and the newspaper "Volnaje Hlybokaje" published an article "There were relatives of the border guard killed in Hlybokaje District September 17, 1939". The story of this was the reason for the administrative process. Dmitry Lupach accused of collaborating with foreign media without accreditation - a violation of Article 22.9 of the Administrative Code (illegal production and distribution of media products). The trial of independent journalist was appointed July 10, but the documents were sent back for revision to the police.
June 30 Dmitry phone called a meeting of the local KGB officer. During the conversation, he warned about the inadmissibility of the journalist cooperation with foreign mass media without accreditation and to discredit the Republic of Belarus (art. 369-1 of the Criminal Code) - the provision of a foreign state false information about political, economic and social situation of citizens, etc.
"KGB officers said that they have a lot of evidence of my cooperation with foreign media without accreditation, but they will not voice them, if I agree to "help". I was asked to inform the "bodies" - they say, are interested "to the region was quiet". And the KGB noted that in case of refusal will be a problem my wife and children."
Dmitry believed that the KGB will lose interest in it, if not to give any information. Meanwhile, July 9, the same officer called and offered to meet again. Dmitry Lupach says flatly refused to be a "stool pigeon", despite the threats. He decided to tell his story to warn friends and colleagues that they, too, can get into a similar situation.
